Jeonbuk Province Strengthens Safety Inspections for Festivals and Multi-Use Facilities
Festival Safety Management Plans,
Elevator Operation Status, and More
As Chuseok approaches, Jeonbuk Province is expecting a large influx of returning residents and tourists. In response, the province will further strengthen safety inspections at major local festivals and multi-use facilities.
The provincial government announced on October 1 that most festivals are held outdoors, which increases the risk of safety accidents. Therefore, it has formed special inspection teams consisting of city and county officials, fire departments, police stations, the Korea Electrical Safety Corporation, the Korea Gas Safety Corporation, and private experts to conduct intensive inspections.
The main inspection items include: ▲ establishing and verifying the adequacy of festival safety management plans ▲ crowd control measures for large gatherings ▲ safety in various areas such as facilities, electricity, and gas.
In particular, during the Chuseok holiday, the Gimje Horizon Festival (October 8-12), Imsil N Cheese Festival (October 8-12), and Gunsan Time Travel Festival & Jjamppong Festival (October 9-12) will be held simultaneously, drawing large crowds. The province plans to intensify pre-event inspections and make every effort to ensure accident-free and safe festival operations.
Additionally, with the holiday approaching, elevator usage at multi-use facilities such as railway stations and large supermarkets is expected to surge. From September 15 to 26, the province, together with cities and counties and the Elevator Safety Agency, jointly inspected 188 elevators.
The main inspection items included: ▲ checking for any malfunctions in elevator operation ▲ assessing the status of self-inspections and risk management ▲ reviewing the work status of safety managers. Any issues identified were immediately addressed by instructing the responsible parties to correct them, thereby eliminating potential hazards before Chuseok.
