Puppet Show at Siheung Gaetgol Ecological Park Salt Warehouse During Chuseok Holiday
Special Exhibition on Salt to Open from October 13
In celebration of the Chuseok holiday, the city of Siheung in Gyeonggi Province will present the puppet show "The Secret of the Black-faced Spoonbill Family and the Salt Warehouse" at the salt warehouse in Gaetgol Ecological Park.
This puppet show is part of the "Roofless Museum" project, which is being promoted in collaboration with the Gyeonggi Cultural Foundation. The project introduces a new concept of a museum that utilizes local ecological, environmental, and community resources.
This original work by a local citizen puppet troupe is a family adventure play that, through the conflict between a family of black-faced spoonbills and cormorants threatening nature, explores the importance of nature and the cultural heritage value of the Siheung salt fields from a child’s perspective. The show will be performed three times a day on October 3, 4, 8, and 9, during the Chuseok holiday. Admission is limited to 30 people per performance on a first-come, first-served basis. Each performance lasts about 30 minutes.
From October 13 to November 6, the salt warehouse will also host a special exhibition titled "Time of Crystallization - What Remains Even After Disappearing." The exhibition will feature media installation art showcasing the formation process of salt crystals.
