BISTEP Researcher Lim Hyungbin Wins Excellence Award at "Busan City Data Utilization Competition"
The Busan Institute of Science and Technology Promotion (President Kim Youngbu, BISTEP) announced on October 1 that Lim Hyungbin, a researcher at the Evaluation and Analysis Division, received the Excellence Award (Busan Mayor's Award) at the "2025 Busan City Data Utilization Competition" held at Busan City Hall on September 26.
Researcher Lim received the Excellence Award in the data analysis and utilization category for the project "Busan City Strategic Industry Workforce Demand Forecast (2024~2030)."
This project projected workforce demand for Busan’s nine strategic industries through 2030 based on 31 years of time-series data, and provided policy insights necessary for developing workforce training and retraining strategies for each industry.
The analysis concluded that quantitative workforce development strategies are needed for industries with high demand, while qualitative advancement strategies focused on current employees are necessary for industries with low demand. This research was highly regarded for providing foundational data to address workforce supply-demand imbalances and support the efficient development of Busan’s strategic industries.
This competition was organized to promote a data-driven administrative culture by discovering outstanding policy cases and encouraging idea proposals based on data. The competition was divided into two categories-'Idea Planning' and 'Data Analysis and Utilization'-for Busan City officials and employees of affiliated organizations.
