Gyeongnam Information College announced on September 30 that it held a Songpyeon making event with international students on September 26, ahead of the Chuseok holiday.
A Songpyeon Making Event for International Students in Celebration of Chuseok is Being Held at Gyeongnam College of Information Technology.
View original imageThis event was organized for international students who are unable to return to their home countries during the Chuseok holiday and must stay in the dormitory. It provided an opportunity to experience traditional Korean culture and share the warm atmosphere of the holiday.
The event took place in the Hotel Culinary Arts Department’s practice kitchen, with President Kim Taesang, Department Head Jung Sookhee, current students, and over 50 international students from various countries including Vietnam and Mongolia in attendance. Participants experienced the entire process firsthand, from preparing the dough to shaping, steaming, and cooling the Songpyeon, learning about and sharing the tradition of this representative Chuseok food.
Sukhbaatar Tulguldur, an international student from Mongolia who attended the event, said, "It was a great opportunity to understand Chuseok, a Korean holiday. Being able to participate in various experiences at school really helps me adapt."
