Pukyong National University Holds 'Dragon Open UIC' Inauguration Ceremony, Leading Fisheries-Marine and Energy Tech Sectors
Pukyong National University (President Bae Sanghoon) held the Dragon Open UIC inauguration ceremony at the Pukyong Convention Hall on the 29th, announcing the 'Blue UIC' specialization strategy for the fisheries and marine sector and the 'Green UIC' specialization strategy for the energy tech sector.
'Open UIC (University-Industry Collaboration)', promoted by Busan City, is a co-growth model in which universities and local industries establish an open cooperation system to create an innovative industrial cluster ecosystem. Pukyong National University's 'Dragon Open UIC' is a super-regional cooperation strategy designed to lead this initiative.
The Blue UIC strategy presents a vision of transforming into a global fisheries and marine innovation hub by developing smart fisheries technologies such as blue food and aquafarming, going beyond the traditional fisheries industry.
The Green UIC strategy aims to establish a global energy tech value chain innovation hub through convergence research in future energy fields such as secondary batteries, power semiconductors, and mobility, as well as by fostering interregional collaboration.
This strategy will be implemented by expanding the infrastructure linking industry, academia, research, and government around the Yongdang Campus, also known as 'Dragon Valley', and by strengthening super-regional cooperation. Currently, a total of 165 companies and institutions have agreed to participate, with 57 joining the Blue UIC and 108 joining the Green UIC.
Pukyong National University plans to establish the 'Dragon Open UIC Steering Committee', centered on the RISE Project Group, to oversee joint research, professional talent development, policy consultations, and the sharing of research infrastructure in collaboration with industry, academia, government, and research institutes.

President Bae Sanghoon stated, "The success of Open UIC will directly determine the outcome of the Busan RISE model," adding, "We will do our utmost to ensure that Dragon Open UIC becomes the foundation for super-regional collaboration."
