Sokcho City to Accept Model Restaurant Applications for Next Year from October 1 to 17
Selected Through Rigorous Screening
Practical Support Elevates Local Food Culture
Sokcho City in Gangwon Province will be accepting applications for new designations and renewals of Model Restaurants for 2026, targeting general restaurants with excellent food hygiene management and service quality, from October 1 to October 17.
Eligible applicants include establishments that have been registered for business in Sokcho City for at least six months, as well as those whose Model Restaurant designation was revoked due to administrative measures under the Food Sanitation Act and for which two years have passed since the revocation. Restaurants wishing to apply must complete the designation application form and submit it either in person to the Health and Hygiene Division of Sokcho City Public Health Center or to the Sokcho Branch of the Korea Foodservice Industry Association, or by mail.
Sokcho City plans to conduct a rigorous on-site inspection and a review by the Food Culture Improvement Promotion Committee, after which the final Model Restaurants will be selected and awarded certificates and signboards by the end of November.
Restaurants designated as Model Restaurants will receive substantial economic benefits, including a 30% reduction in quarterly water and sewage fees, support for purchasing designated garbage bags, provision of sanitary supplies, and priority access to loans for facility improvements. In addition, they will receive promotional support through various media outlets and online platforms to boost local publicity.
