Kakao Entertainment and CJ ENM Join Forces to Produce a K-Band
"Steel Heart Club" Premieres on October 21
Kakao Handles Music and Management, CJ Oversees Production
Kakao Entertainment and CJ ENM announced on September 30 that they have formed a partnership to produce a global K-band. The next-generation iconic band will be introduced through Mnet's "Steel Heart Club," which will premiere on October 21.
Kakao Entertainment will be responsible for music distribution for the program, as well as planning, producing, and managing the final band's album. CJ ENM will handle the planning and production of the program. By combining their experience in the music and artist intellectual property business with content production capabilities, the two companies aim to continue the global K-band boom.
"Steel Heart Club" is a global band survival program in which participants compete for the position of "the ultimate headliner band" by forming groups based on their positions-guitar, drums, bass, vocals, and keyboard. Actress Moon Gayoung will serve as MC, with Jung Yonghwa, Lee Jangwon, Sunwoo JungA, and Ha Sungwoon participating as directors.
Kakao Entertainment will take charge of distributing music featuring the contestants' performances, releasing the final band's album, planning concerts, and providing comprehensive management. Leveraging its global K-pop distribution network and multi-label system, the company plans to carry out strategic activities targeting fans worldwide.
CJ ENM, drawing on its success with large-scale audition programs such as "Superstar K," "Show Me the Money," "Boys Planet," and "I-Land," will expand into the band genre. By introducing a new survival format in which fans directly participate in forming the band lineup, the company aims to expand the global band market.
