Strengthening Exchange and Cooperation
The Korea SMEs and Startups Agency announced on September 30 that it had launched the "Jump-up Program Regional Council for Seoul, Incheon, and Gangwon" and held a roundtable meeting at Space Share Seoul Station Center.
The Jump-up Program is a package initiative that supports promising medium-sized companies in entering new businesses and markets, as well as scaling up. In March, 100 companies were selected for participation.
The selected companies will receive a variety of benefits over three years, including: "Scale-up Directing," which manages the establishment and execution of strategies such as technology and management consulting; "Open Voucher," which provides business development funding required for entry into new businesses and markets; a "Networking Program" that offers opportunities for investment attraction and global expansion; and connections to government support programs such as R&D, loans, and guarantees.
The meeting was attended by Kwon Soonjae, Director of Regional Enterprise Policy at the Ministry of SMEs and Startups, Ban Jeongsik, Director of Regional Innovation at the Korea SMEs and Startups Agency, as well as representatives and executives from 10 companies participating in the Jump-up Program from the Seoul, Incheon, and Gangwon regions, totaling around 20 participants.
The participating companies raised various on-site challenges, such as strengthening support linkages and expanding the scope of voucher usage. In response, the Ministry of SMEs and Startups and the Korea SMEs and Startups Agency stated that they would actively address these needs by providing close management through dedicated managers and improving relevant systems.
The Ministry of SMEs and Startups plans to strengthen on-site communication and create a collaborative platform for finding solutions together through regional councils for companies selected for the Jump-up Program in each area. To this end, a variety of programs will be operated, including listening to challenges in new business development, sharing global and industry issues through professional organizations, policy-linked consultations, and management capacity-building seminars.
