Gangneung City Implements Comprehensive Chuseok Holiday Plan to Minimize Citizen Inconvenience
Gangneung City in Gangwon Province will implement the "2025 Chuseok Holiday Comprehensive Plan" to ensure that citizens can enjoy a safe and prosperous Chuseok holiday.
The city will operate a comprehensive situation room from October 3 to October 9, focusing on intensive management of eight key areas closely related to daily life, including safety management, health and medical care, price stabilization, and transportation.
First, safety inspections of building, fire, electrical, and gas facilities have been completed at 23 private multi-use facilities in the city. To ensure that both citizens and visitors returning home can spend the holiday safely, the disaster safety situation room will be operated 24 hours a day, maintaining situation management and cooperation with related agencies.
In addition, to ease the burden of rising prices, the city will operate a price control situation room, strengthen monitoring of price trends for major seasonal goods and key items, and promote consumption and revitalize the local economy through joint public-private traditional market shopping events.
Comprehensive measures for emergency medical services during the holiday will also be thoroughly implemented. Four general medical institutions in the city (Gangneung Asan Hospital, Gangneung Medical Center, Gangneung Dongin Hospital, and Gangneung Goryeo Hospital) will maintain a 24-hour emergency medical system, while 151 clinics and 193 pharmacies will also remain open to minimize any gaps in medical services. The list of clinics and pharmacies open during the Chuseok holiday can be found on the Gangneung City Public Health Center website.
Enhanced special cleaning measures will also be in effect. Residents will be able to dispose of waste on all days of the holiday except October 5 and 6, and household waste will be collected on all days except September 6, which is Chuseok day, and September 7, to maintain a pleasant urban environment.
In addition, Gyeongpo Beach, a popular tourist destination, will undergo intensive cleaning to remove firework debris and other waste, reinforcing Gangneung’s image as a clean city.
Furthermore, to prevent citizens who have just overcome drought from experiencing water shortages again during the holiday, the city will operate a 24-hour water supply situation room to monitor the increased water usage and ensure a stable supply.
