Jinan County and Korea Water Resources Corporation Yongdam Dam Branch Sign MOU for Visitor Rest Area Development
"Revitalizing Local Tourism and Responding to Regional Depopulation Crisis"
On September 29, Jinan County in North Jeolla Province signed a business agreement with the Yongdam Dam Branch of Korea Water Resources Corporation at the county office to ensure the smooth implementation of the "Yongdam Lake Visitor Rest Area Development Project."
This agreement aims to remodel the Sucheon Rest Area near Yongdam Lake to create a landscape-friendly rest area and a stay-type tourism infrastructure. By providing visitors with a comfortable space to relax, the project seeks to revitalize local tourism and respond to the crisis of regional depopulation.
The total project budget is 1.985 billion won, with Korea Water Resources Corporation contributing 500 million won, the Regional Depopulation Response Fund providing 1.45 billion won, and the county allocating 35 million won. After facility improvement construction next year, the project is scheduled for completion in January 2027.
Through this project, the county plans to establish an eco-friendly ecological tourism destination linked to nearby ecological resources, such as the Yongdam Lake Ecological Wetland and the waterfront trail, and to increase visitors' length of stay to invigorate the local economy.
