"Honey Combo Now 25,000 Won"... Kyochon Chicken Raises Delivery App Prices in Seoul by 2,000 Won
In Consultation with Seoul Franchisees
Franchisees in Other Regions Set Prices Independently
Most Kyochon Chicken outlets in Seoul have raised their menu prices on delivery apps.
According to the franchise industry on September 29, Kyochon Chicken franchise owners in Seoul have increased the prices of Honey Combo, Red Combo, Soy Sauce Combo, and Half & Half Combo by 2,000 won on Baemin (Baedal Minjok) and Coupang Eats since September 19. The price of the Honey Combo was raised from 23,000 won to 25,000 won.
The Kyochon Chicken Franchise Owners’ Association reported that more than 90% of Kyochon Chicken outlets in Seoul have implemented this price increase. This measure was taken after discussions between Kyochon Chicken headquarters and Seoul franchise owners. The prices of chicken sold in stores or through the Kyochon Chicken exclusive app have not increased.
Outside of Seoul, Kyochon Chicken franchise owners have either followed the recommended retail prices set by headquarters or independently raised the delivery menu prices by about 2,000 to 3,000 won without separate consultation with headquarters, according to the Franchise Owners’ Association.
Some Kyochon Chicken franchise owners began selling delivery menu items at higher prices than the recommended retail prices set by headquarters from earlier this month. Under the Franchise Business Act, headquarters cannot force franchise owners to set specific product prices, but in most franchises, franchise owners have generally followed the recommended retail prices set by headquarters.
A representative from Kyochon F&B, which operates Kyochon Chicken, stated, "We have asked franchise owners to minimize potential customer complaints and confusion that may arise from the dual pricing system (delivery-only pricing)."
