Police Form Dedicated Investigation Team for National Information Resources Service Fire
"Thorough Investigation Into the Cause of the Fire"
The police announced on September 29 that a dedicated investigation team has been formed in connection with the fire at the National Information Resources Service.
Park Sungju, Chief of the National Investigation Headquarters at the National Police Agency, stated during a regular press briefing on the same day, "We have organized an investigation team of 20 members, led by the head of the Criminal Division at the Daejeon Metropolitan Police Agency," adding, "Apart from the day of the fire, we have conducted three on-site forensic examinations so far."
Chief Park explained, "The Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency has a dedicated department for lithium batteries. In addition to the investigation team, three forensic science officers have also been deployed for the examination," and added, "We will thoroughly determine the cause of the fire through interviews with relevant individuals, CCTV analysis, and joint forensic investigations."

This incident resulted in the suspension of 647 government administrative information systems, causing an unprecedented nationwide network paralysis.
