While presiding over the Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters meeting at the Central Disaster Situation Room of the Government Seoul Office Building in Jongno-gu, Seoul, on the afternoon of the 28th, President Lee heard Governor Kim's suggestion and told the Minister of the Interior and Safety, "Even if it requires using reserve funds, please find a solution quickly." He also urged the Ministry of Economy and Finance to provide the necessary budget decisively, stating, "The cost is minimal compared to the pain and difficulties the public is experiencing."
The meeting, which lasted about two hours and forty minutes, was attended by the Prime Minister, ministers and vice ministers of central administrative agencies, the heads of 17 metropolitan and provincial governments, and private sector experts in cloud technology. After receiving reports on the current situation and response plans from relevant ministries, President Lee questioned the head of the National Intelligence Resources Management Agency. According to Presidential Spokesperson Kang Yoo-jung, when those in charge failed to answer questions about regulations and principles properly, President Lee criticized them, saying, "It's like driving without a map."
President Lee emphasized, "Above all, it is crucial to have comprehensive regulations and guidelines and to operate them properly," and added, "Even now, we must establish and operate a dual system effectively." He also stated, "While urgent patchwork is important, this should serve as an opportunity to fundamentally overhaul the national information management system." He urged officials to review whether the regulations related to backup systems are appropriate, to ensure that regulations and guidelines are properly implemented in the field, and to make sure they are being followed as intended.
