Busan Vocational High Schools Achieve Best-Ever Results at National Skills Competition, Winning 23 Medals
Busan Technical High School Ranks First Among 250 Participating Institutions
Students from vocational high schools in Busan achieved their best-ever results at the 60th National Skills Competition, which was held in Gwangju from September 20 to 27.
The Busan Metropolitan Office of Education (Superintendent Kim Seokjun) announced on the 28th that the Busan vocational high school team won a total of 23 medals, including 9 gold, 6 silver, and 8 bronze medals across 15 categories. This marks the highest number of medals ever won.
Busan Technical High School took first place among 250 participating institutions, earning the Gold Tower Award by winning 5 gold, 3 silver, 1 bronze, and 8 encouragement awards.
In the Mechanical Design/CAD category, student Yoo Yejun won gold, while Choi Heejun and Kang Kibum took silver, sweeping three medals in a single field. In the Plumbing category, student Oh Donggeun also secured a gold medal, showcasing outstanding achievements.
Kim Doyoung and Choi Minjun from Gyeongnam Technical High School won gold in Mobile Robotics, Kim Dowon from Dongui High School won gold in Sheet Metal Structure, and Jeong Jaeyoung from Geumsaem High School won gold in Electrical Equipment.
Additionally, Son Seonwoong from Busan Health High School (Baking), Bae Yeoju from Yeongsan High School (Cooking), and Jung Jiyoon from Buil Electronic Design High School (Web Design) demonstrated their potential by winning bronze medals despite it being their first time competing at the National Skills Competition.
The Busan Metropolitan Office of Education commented, "It is especially meaningful that outstanding results were achieved evenly across all vocational high schools in Busan, rather than being concentrated in specific schools or categories."
