Priority Recovery for Government24 and Post Office Financial Services: "Restoring Services with Greatest Public Impact First"
The Ministry of the Interior and Safety announced on the 27th that, in response to the suspension of 647 government work systems due to a fire at the National Information Resources Service in Daejeon on the 26th, "We will prioritize the recovery of services with the greatest public impact, such as Government24 and Post Office financial services."
Kim Minjae, Vice Minister of the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, stated at an emergency briefing at the Seoul Government Complex, "Although the battery fire was extinguished at around 6:30 a.m. today, operations of 647 work systems at the Daejeon headquarters of the National Information Resources Service have been suspended. We will swiftly restore critical government services with significant public impact, such as Post Office financial and postal services, as a priority."
According to the Ministry, national information systems are classified into four levels, from Level 1 to Level 4, based on factors such as investment and the priority for recovery in the event of a disruption. Among these, Level 1 and Level 2 systems are considered especially important due to the number of users and their broader impact.
The Ministry explained, "In the event of a disruption to a Level 1 information system, we have requested that relevant agencies immediately implement necessary measures in accordance with the service continuity plan, such as manual processing systems and guidance on alternative sites."
