Nine Joseon Royal Tomb Forest Trails Open for Two Months... Total Length 19.6km
Free Access to Donggureung, Gwangneung and More Starting October 1
The Royal Tombs and Heritage Sites Division of the National Heritage Administration announced on the 29th that it will open nine forest trails at the Joseon Royal Tombs from October 1 to November 30. This is a regular event held every spring and autumn since 2019. Before each opening, the trails are maintained to ensure visitors can safely walk the forest paths and experience the value of the Joseon Royal Tombs.
The trails to be opened this time include: the Donggureung in Guri ("Hwirung to Wonreung and Gyeongneung to Seedling Nursery, Nature Learning Center," 2,719 meters); the Gwangneung in Namyangju ("Hama Stone Monument to Neungchim to Boxwood Forest Area," 945 meters); the Sareung in Namyangju ("Hong Salmun Gate to the North Flower Garden of Neungchim," 775 meters); Taereung and Gangneung in Seoul ("Taereung to Gangneung Children's Yard," 1,700 meters); Uireung in Seoul ("Cheonjangsan Forest Trail to Restored Historical Landscape Forest," 1,654 meters); Jangneung in Paju ("North of Neungchim," 1,675 meters); Yungneung and Geolleung in Hwaseong ("Yungneung to Geolleung Wildflower Yard," 3,693 meters); Samneung in Paju ("Yeongneung to Sunneung Small Pond Forest Area, North of Gongneung Neungchim," 3,180 meters); and Yeongneung and Nyeongneung in Yeoju ("Perimeter of Yeongneung," 3,250 meters). The total length of the trails is 19.59 kilometers.

The trails are open to all visitors without restriction. Opening hours are the same as the viewing hours for each Joseon Royal Tomb site: from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. in October, and from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. in November. The sites are closed on Mondays, and hours may be adjusted depending on weather or other conditions.
