Woman Attacked on Her Way to Work in Nowon District, Seoul... Man in His 50s Detained for Attempted Sexual Assault
A suspect who attempted to sexually assault a female neighbor on her way to work has been arrested and detained.
The Nowon Police Station in Seoul announced on September 26 that a man in his 50s, identified as Mr. A, has been detained on charges of attempted rape. The court issued an arrest warrant the previous afternoon, citing concerns that Mr. A might attempt to flee.
Mr. A is accused of covering the mouth of a female neighbor who was leaving for work at around 7 a.m. on September 23 at a multi-family residence in Nowon District, and attempting to drag her into his own home. The crime was not completed due to the victim's resistance.
Police apprehended Mr. A at a lodging facility in Jungnang District, Seoul, at approximately 10:30 a.m. on the same day.
