KHNP Wolseong Unit 3 Begins 22nd Scheduled Preventive Maintenance on September 26
Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power's Wolseong Nuclear Power Plant Headquarters (Director: Jung Wonho) announced that Wolseong Unit 3 (a 700,000 kW pressurized heavy water reactor) was shut down at 9:00 a.m. on September 26 for a scheduled inspection and preventive maintenance to enhance reactor safety, marking the start of its 22nd scheduled preventive maintenance process, which is expected to last approximately 42 days.

During this scheduled preventive maintenance period, Wolseong Unit 3 will undergo a regular inspection in accordance with the Nuclear Safety Act, replacement of the passive catalytic hydrogen recombiner for design basis accidents, disassembly and inspection of the main generator and low-pressure turbine #1, among other tasks. Power generation is expected to resume around November 7, 2025, after these procedures are completed.
