243 Veterans in Gwangju and South Jeolla Classified as At Risk of Dying Alone... One in Four in High-Risk Group
One out of every four veterans classified as being at risk of dying alone in Gwangju and South Jeolla Province has been identified as belonging to the high-risk group.
According to data submitted by Assemblyman Yoo Dongsoo of the Democratic Party of Korea (representing Gyeyang-gap, Incheon) and obtained from the Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs on September 25, the number of veterans at risk of dying alone this year was tallied at 173 in Gwangju and 70 in South Jeolla Province, totaling 243.
Among them, the high-risk group comprised 53 in Gwangju and 10 in South Jeolla Province, totaling 63, which accounts for about 26% of the total. The medium-risk group included 95 individuals, while the low-risk group consisted of 85 individuals.
Gwangju had 53 high-risk veterans, ranking fifth among the 27 regional veterans affairs offices nationwide.
