"Icheon Roundabout" Unveiled in Limoges, France
Installed in Downtown Limoges to Mark 10th Anniversary of Sister City Ties with Icheon
A new intersection sign bearing the familiar name of a Korean city has appeared in the city center of Limoges, the capital of Haute-Vienne in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region of central-western France. The sign reads "Icheon Roundabout (ROND-POINT D'ICHEON)."
This intersection was named to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the sister city relationship between Icheon in Gyeonggi Province and Limoges. The signpost was installed on September 18 (local time) at a roundabout near Jean Monnet Street in Limoges.
The unveiling ceremony took place during the Icheon city delegation's visit to Limoges from September 16 to 23. At the ceremony, about 20 Limoges elementary school students presented a diplomatic bag containing their activity reports to the Icheon delegation.
Emile-Roger Lombertie, the mayor of Limoges, said at the ceremony, "The history of exchanges between our two cities is proof of a strong friendship," adding, "Let us continue to expand our exchanges in even more diverse fields."
