Failure to Report Changes in Agricultural Management Entities May Lead to Direct Payment Disadvantages
Bonhwa Agricultural and Fishery Affairs Office Intensifies Autumn Crop Regular Change Reporting
Until October 20
The Bonhwa Office of the Gyeongbuk Branch of the National Agricultural Products Quality Management Service (Director Lee Kyungyeon, hereinafter referred to as Bonhwa Agricultural and Fishery Affairs Office) announced on the 25th that it will operate the "Autumn Regular Change Reporting System" from September 16 to October 20, focusing on autumn crops such as kimchi radish and kimchi cabbage.
Agricultural Business Entity Change Report, Missing It Results in Direct Payment Disadvantages
Bonghwa Agricultural Management Office Focuses on Regular Change Reports for Autumn Crops Until October 20
Farmers registered as agricultural management entities are required, under Article 4 of the Act on the Management of Agricultural and Fishery Businesses, to report any changes to their management information within 14 days. This is a condition for receiving various government benefits, including public direct payments, agricultural disaster insurance, soil improvement support, and young farmer settlement support. The purpose is to promote policy support based on accurate information and to use the data for agricultural supply and demand management.
However, many farmers fail to report changes on time due to busy farming activities and a lack of awareness about the system. This leads to decreased accuracy in registration information and increases the likelihood of disadvantages, such as a 10% reduction in the basic public direct payment.
To address this, Bonhwa Agricultural and Fishery Affairs Office is expanding its promotional efforts in cooperation with agricultural organizations, following similar initiatives for winter and summer crops earlier this year, and continuing these efforts for autumn crops.
In particular, farms with a cultivation area of 0.5 hectares or more will receive targeted notifications via text message and mail. After the reporting period, the office plans to conduct on-site inspections, directly correct any discrepancies, and notify farmers immediately.
According to relevant laws, from next year, failure to update registration information will result in direct payment reductions. However, this year is being operated as a guidance period. Accordingly, Bonhwa Agricultural and Fishery Affairs Office plans to minimize confusion in the field starting next year by conducting active promotional activities this year.
Lee Kyungyeon, Director of Bonhwa Agricultural and Fishery Affairs Office, emphasized, "The accuracy of agricultural management entity registration information is fundamental to agricultural policy," and urged, "If farmers change their crops or farmland, they must report it during this regular change reporting period."
Reports can be submitted by visiting or calling the Bonhwa Agricultural and Fishery Affairs Office, through the Agricultural Management Entity Call Center, or via the Agricultural e-ji online service.
