Police to Fully Mobilize Safety Measures for '2025 Seoul World Fireworks Festival'
The police will implement safety management measures to prepare for large crowds expected at the upcoming '2025 Seoul World Fireworks Festival' on September 27.
The Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency announced on September 25 that, as the event is expected to draw an audience of 1 million people, it will prioritize citizen safety in cooperation with the event organizers and local governments.
First, the chiefs of Yeongdeungpo, Yongsan, Mapo, and Dongjak Police Stations, along with the commander of the mobile unit, will be designated as area managers. In addition, a total of 3,448 personnel will be deployed, including 37 mobile units and 22 mobile patrol teams, to manage crowd safety and respond to emergencies.
In particular, police personnel will be concentrated at popular viewing spots such as the Cheonsang Stairs in Hangang Park, the northern entrance of Mapo Bridge, the Turtle Ship Ferry Terminal, and Yongyang Bongjeojeong Park. Temporary additional pedestrian paths will be secured on Mapo Bridge and Hangang Bridge, where there is heavy foot traffic, and one top lane will be operated as an emergency lane.
Furthermore, near Yeouinaru Station, crowd density will be monitored in real time using high-altitude observation equipment introduced last year. The police stated that, if necessary after the event, they may implement measures such as restricting access to subway stations or having trains pass through without stopping.
