Following the murder of American right-wing activist Charlie Kirk, which has caused significant social repercussions, reports have emerged that the U.S. State Department plans to revoke entry visas for foreigners who made negative remarks about Kirk. On September 24 (local time), the New York Times reported, "In the two weeks since Kirk was killed, U.S. authorities have been searching for public statements celebrating or joking about his death, and have also asked the public for related cooperation."

The day after Kirk was killed, Deputy Secretary Landau posted on social media asking people to "send examples of those who praise, justify, or downplay this incident." Numerous reports were subsequently posted to his account, and Landau responded by uploading an image depicting himself as a superhero. The image featured a baseball bat engraved with the U.S. government seal and the Spanish phrase "Visa Revoker," showing Deputy Secretary Landau melting visas with laser beams from his eyes.
A journalist from South Africa was reported to Landau's account after stating on social media, "I offer condolences to Kirk's family, but I do not empathize with Kirk," and claiming that "(Kirk) believed gun deaths were a small price to pay for the right to bear arms."

Salvador Ramirez, spokesperson for Mexico's ruling party, was also reported after saying at a media-hosted debate, "Kirk brought his murder upon himself due to his pro-gun stance." In response, Ramirez attempted to defuse the situation, stating, "I acknowledge that Deputy Secretary Landau did great work during his time as ambassador to the United States.
