Introduction of High-Efficiency Cooling System... Productivity Tripled
Gradual Expansion of European-Style Vegetable Production Line
Establishment of Agricultural Bio-Complex in Seosan, Chungnam
Smart farm comprehensive solution provider Wodumji Farm has begun full-scale shipment of premium vegetables cultivated in its state-of-the-art European-style greenhouse. With the stable sales of its stevia tomato brand "Tomango," Wodumji Farm has secured a new growth engine.
According to Wodumji Farm on September 25, the company has completed the trial cultivation phase for its European-style vegetable greenhouse and finished preparations for commercialization. European-style vegetables shipped to major retailers such as Costco and SPC are gaining popularity among client companies. The company is signaling an expansion of its market dominance and is continuing negotiations for additional shipments to large retailers.
Wodumji Farm completed the construction of a large-scale European-style vegetable greenhouse and has been conducting trial operations since June.
Wodumji Farm was the first in Korea to operate a Korean-style semi-closed glass greenhouse (smart farm), offering differentiated agricultural products. The "Tomango" brand, Korea's first stevia tomato, has been the main driver of sales, supported by a stable domestic and international distribution network. Since 2018, the company has recorded an average annual growth rate of 37.5%.
The European-style vegetable greenhouse is a future food business initiative launched in 2023, equipped with advanced facilities that combine proprietary semi-closed glass greenhouse technology with the latest European horticultural technology, the Mobile Gully System (MGS), an automated facility. Covering approximately 33,000 square meters, it is the largest semi-closed glass greenhouse in Korea.
Wodumji Farm produces a variety of European-style vegetables, including romaine, caipira, butterhead, and frill lettuce. By introducing a high-efficiency cooling system, the company has resolved quality and weight issues that can arise during the hot summer season.
The Wodumji Farm vegetable greenhouse addresses condensation issues caused by cooling and controls excessive humidity inside the greenhouse. This prevents growth reduction and crop loss. Compared to soil-based cultivation, the smart farm vegetable greenhouse operates year-round, increasing productivity by more than three times. The company estimates that annual production will exceed 3,000 tons.
Wodumji Farm plans to gradually expand its European-style vegetable production line while enhancing its smart farm technology to boost productivity and quality. The company is also accelerating efforts to strengthen its B2C brand and develop overseas distribution channels.
Participating in the creation of an agricultural bio-complex in Seosan, Chungnam, the company has laid the foundation for expansion by acquiring approximately 152,000 square meters of land. With smart farm facilities, including semi-closed glass greenhouses, the company forecasts annual sales contributions of around 50 billion won once commercial operations begin.
A Wodumji Farm representative stated, "The operation of the greenhouse is not just about launching new products, but serves as a stepping stone to becoming a global agricultural company. We will nurture European-style vegetables as a new growth axis based on the brand competitiveness secured through Tomango."
The representative added, "We will actively respond to the expanding demand in the domestic and international premium vegetable markets, as well as the HMR and food service industries, to achieve a second leap forward."
