National Palace Museum of Korea 20th Anniversary Special Exhibition "Gathering, Continuing"
A Comprehensive Showcase of Joseon Royal Heritage Research Achievements
Three-Part Exhibition: Rites, Daily Life, and Records
The National Palace Museum of Korea will hold a special exhibition titled "Gathering, Continuing" from October 1 to November 30 to commemorate its 20th anniversary. Taking place at the first-floor Rest Yard Maru, the exhibition will showcase the culmination of research achievements accumulated over the past 20 years, highlighting the value and transmission of Joseon royal cultural heritage.
The Joseon royal family maintained the highest standards of culture in all aspects of daily life, including attire, cuisine, and residence, and systematically documented these traditions. The museum has expanded the significance of this heritage by "gathering" and interpreting it in a modern context, thus "continuing" its legacy.
The exhibition is divided into three sections. The first section, "Preparing, Rites," introduces national rituals recorded in the "Gukjo Oryeui" and related research findings. The second section, "Adorning, Life," focuses on royal patterns that decorated clothing, household items, and living spaces. The third section, "Leaving, Records," presents records from the Joseon royal family and contemporary research based on these documents. An interactive video experience will also be available for visitors to participate in, adding to the exhibition's appeal.
The exhibition is open from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. On Wednesdays and Saturdays, hours are extended until 9:00 p.m., while the museum will be closed on Chuseok day (October 6). Admission is free, and visitors will receive a commemorative bookmark featuring royal culture.
