Dongseo University RISE Project Group Announces COU Game GIGA Project Items
Industry Meeting Held with Local Game Companies
Dongseo University (President Jang Jeguk) RISE Project Group is launching large-scale projects aimed at generating revenue in digital tech sectors such as cultural tourism and gaming.
The project group announced on the 24th that it held the ‘CENTUM Open UIC (COU) Game GIGA Project Item Presentation and Industry Meeting’ with local game companies on the 19th at Room 602 of Global Village, Dongseo University.
The meeting was attended by Dongseo University Vice President for Academic Affairs Nam Hosu, RISE Project Group Director Hwang Kihyun, faculty members, and CEOs of major game companies representing Busan, including B&D Angle, Zombie Mate, Flotric, CPlay, Nomad Lab, Magic Cube, Dizcon, Big Jam, Appeal, and Kangto Studio. Participants conveyed industry demands for revitalizing COU operations and discussed the future direction of the Game GIGA Project.
The COU (CENTUM Open UIC) program is the flagship model of Dongseo University’s RISE Project, based at the Centum Campus, where the university, research institutes, and companies collaborate to promote education, R&D, entrepreneurship, and large-scale (GIGA) projects in cultural tourism and digital tech fields.
During the meeting, participants emphasized the need to create tangible university-industry cooperation outcomes and to build a sustainable regional innovation ecosystem through an operational consultative body that reflects on-site needs. Accordingly, the RISE Project Group plans to regularize and operate the COU Game GIGA Project consultative body.
Park Youngjun, Professor of Game Design at Dongseo University (Head of Game Production), said, “We plan to redesign and commercialize the award-winning games ‘Winder’ and ‘Sweeter’ from the Busan Indie Connect Festival (BIC) in collaboration with local game companies to make them viable for the market.”
He added, “Next year, we will discover new games proposed by the local business consortium and move forward with their development and commercialization.”
In addition, the project group will gather feedback on-site support and challenges faced by local game companies, and strengthen networks to reflect these in planning the 2026 GIGA Project. At the 2026 G-Star exhibition, the plan is to set up and operate a CENTUM Open UIC booth to enhance the competitiveness of the local game industry.
