View original imageThis event was organized to commemorate the 20th anniversary by inviting over 800 local seniors and to announce the start of briquette support, which will continue from the second half of 2025 through the first half of 2026. During the event, there were also sharing activities, including the distribution of rice and daily necessities.
Sokcho Briquette Bank was established in May 2005 to protect marginalized groups. Despite being 80 years old, CEO Kim Sangbok has consistently volunteered by carrying briquettes alongside volunteers throughout Sokcho.
At the event, CEO Kim Sangbok shared his reflections on the past 20 years and, in line with his practical retirement, was appointed as chairman. He officially delegated the CEO position to the new leader, Kim Kyunghwa, in an appointment ceremony.
Kim Sangbok stated, "I am deeply grateful to all those who have consistently supported and volunteered with us over the past 20 years," and added, "I will continue to do my best with unwavering dedication so that our neighbors can prepare for a warm winter."

Lee Byungseon, Mayor of Sokcho, expressed, "I am deeply thankful to CEO Kim Sangbok, who continues to serve his neighbors by personally carrying briquettes even at the age of 80. Although a difficult winter is expected due to the climate crisis and rising public utility rates, I hope that the sharing of briquettes of love will spread further so that everyone can enjoy a warm winter."
