"So Everyone Can Use Them"... LG Electronics and Korean Intellectual Property Office Provide Home Appliance Experience Program at Special School
Experiential Education on Electronic Product Invention and Accessibility
For 30 Students at a Special School
Contest to Enhance Accessibility of Home Appliances for People with Disabilities
LG Electronics, in collaboration with the Korean Intellectual Property Office, has launched an experiential education program on electronic products for children and adolescents with disabilities.
On the previous day, LG Electronics announced that it had conducted an experiential education session on electronic product invention and accessibility for 30 children and adolescents at Daniel School, a private special school in Seocho-gu, Seoul, which serves students with developmental disabilities.
This program is part of the "Business Agreement to Enhance Accessibility of Home Appliances for People with Disabilities," signed between LG Electronics and the Korean Intellectual Property Office in March this year. The program combines LG Electronics' "Home Appliance School One-Day Class" with the "Mobile Invention Experience Classroom" operated by the Korea Invention Promotion Association under the Korean Intellectual Property Office.
The curriculum covered examples of inventions that changed the world, sensor technology in smart streetlights, the electrical and mechanical principles of home appliances, and safe usage of home appliances. The aim was to help children and adolescents with disabilities-who often have fewer opportunities for such experiences-learn about various invention cases, understand how products work, and develop safe usage habits.

The "Mobile Invention Experience Classroom," hosted by the Korean Intellectual Property Office and run by the Korea Invention Promotion Association, provides equal opportunities for creative and inventive education to children and adolescents from underprivileged backgrounds.
Going forward, LG Electronics plans to continue collaborating with the Korean Intellectual Property Office to foster and support young inventors, while also working to discover customer experiences that will improve home appliance accessibility.
In March, LG Electronics held an idea contest to enhance accessibility of home appliances for people with disabilities, utilizing the "Idea-ro" idea trading platform operated by the Korea Invention Promotion Association. Over the course of about a month, approximately 250 ideas were submitted.
Among these, four new ideas for the "LG Comfort Kit," an accessory designed to help anyone-regardless of gender, age, or disability-use products easily, were selected as the final winners. The company is currently reviewing the potential application of these ideas to actual products and services.
LG Electronics is actively pursuing various initiatives to improve home appliance accessibility, guided by its ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) vision of "Better Life for All."
Notable examples include the "Home Appliance School Project," which distributes easy-to-read books free of charge to help children and adolescents with developmental disabilities use products safely, and the "LG for All" campaign, which introduces product and service usage methods through videos for customers with disabilities and senior citizens. Through these efforts, the company is promoting safe home appliance usage to a wide range of customers.
