[Today's New Product] "A Festive Meal for Solo Diners"... CU Launches 7 'Chuseok Ready-to-Eat Meals'
Launch of 11-Side Dish Lunchbox, Assorted Jeon, Galbi, and More Single-Serve Meals
In celebration of the upcoming Chuseok holiday, CU will sequentially launch its "Chuseok Ready-to-Eat Meal Series," consisting of seven different products, starting from the 24th. This lineup is designed so that even those spending the holiday alone can enjoy a festive atmosphere.
This year, CU is expanding its Chuseok ready-to-eat meal lineup from just one product in previous years to seven. The selection includes a variety of dishes that recreate a traditional holiday feast, such as a full-course lunchbox, assorted jeon (Korean pancakes), galbi (grilled ribs), and japchae kimbap, all offered at reasonable prices.
The flagship product, "Chuseok 11-Side Dish Lunchbox" (7,500 won), features grilled tteokgalbi with a sweet special sauce, along with four types of jeon-omisan-jeok, shiitake mushroom jeon, chive jeon, and kimchi jeon-plus seasoned vegetables like bracken and spinach, and rice cakes, capturing the abundance of a traditional holiday table.
Other offerings include the "Assorted Jeon" (8,900 won), which is generously packed with various pancakes such as donggeurangttaeng, perilla leaf jeon, and omisan-jeok, as well as a single-serve "Pork Galbi" lunchbox (7,900 won) featuring moist and tender ribs marinated in a sweet and savory special sauce. These ready-to-eat versions of typically labor-intensive holiday dishes are expected to be popular among solo Chuseok celebrants.
Additionally, the lineup features holiday-inspired items such as the "Neobiani Triangle Kimbap" and "Neobiani Kimbap" (1,400 won and 3,300 won each), "Japchae Triangle Kimbap" (1,300 won), and "Japchae-Seasoned Kimbap Without Glass Noodles" (3,400 won), all utilizing classic holiday side dishes.
Sales of CU's holiday lunchboxes have been steadily increasing every year. Over the past three years, sales during the three-day holiday period (including the holiday itself) grew by 13.4% in 2022, 18.5% in 2023, and 20.8% in 2024 compared to the previous year, consistently posting double-digit growth rates. This year, with a longer holiday period, demand for ready-to-eat holiday meals is expected to rise, especially among single-person households.
Noh Sumin, Ready-to-Eat Foods Team MD at BGF Retail, stated, "To mark the Chuseok holiday, we have planned an abundant selection of ready-to-eat meals so that single-person households can enjoy home-style holiday dishes without burden. Going forward, CU will continue to introduce differentiated ready-to-eat meals tailored to changing lifestyles."
