Seongnam City Selects 19 Exemplary Citizens in 10 Categories Including Regional Development and Advanced Industry
Commendations to Be Presented at the 52nd Citizens’ Day Ceremony on the 30th
Seongnam City in Gyeonggi Province (Mayor: Shin Sangjin) announced on the 24th that it has selected 19 exemplary citizens who have contributed to the development of municipal administration.

View original imageThe city held a merit review committee for 36 candidates recommended by citizens and others across 10 categories, including regional development, advanced industry, and welfare, and selected those with outstanding achievements as exemplary citizens.
The exemplary citizens by category are as follows: △Regional Development: Kim Jungyong (63, male), Jung Byungyong (56, male); △Advanced Industry: Jang Seungki (66, male), Jung Gwangcheon (63, male); △Welfare: Park Yuseo (62, male), Yang Eunmi (47, female); △Service and Sharing: Kwon Ogeum (73, female), Yong Injung (58, male); △Filial Piety and Good Deeds: Yoon Youngsook (73, female), Jung Giyeop (73, male); △Environment: Wang Dongyoung (45, male), Lee Taeho (56, male); △Health Promotion: Kim Kyungtae (49, male), Jung Hoyoung (54, male); △Human Rights Promotion: Lim Insik (63, male), Jung Jinae (46, female); △Safety: Um Suhyun (63, female); △Outstanding Youth: Lee Seohyun (16, female), Jung Eunhye (17, female).
In the regional development category, Kim Jungyong (Executive Director of POSCO Holdings Global Center) contributed to the construction of the POSCO Global Center in the Wirye District, while Jung Byungyong (Head of Asset Planning at HD Hyundai Heavy Industries) promoted support projects such as providing disinfection robots to welfare facilities.
In the advanced industry category, Jang Seungki (Director of the Korea Pasteur Institute) was recognized for his efforts to vitalize Seongnam’s bio-health industry and for signing a specialized cluster agreement. Jung Gwangcheon (President of the Korea Association of Small and Medium Business Innovation) contributed to exploring future development directions for local companies while serving as head of the Fourth Industrial Revolution Committee of the Seongnam Future Development Committee.
In the welfare category, Park Yuseo (President of the Seongnam Academy Association) promoted academic advancement activities for youth, including scholarships for at-risk youth. Yang Eunmi (Director of Sujeong Senior Welfare Center) carried out social contribution activities such as supporting literacy education programs and delivering scholarships to students in Seongnam.
In the service and sharing category, Kwon Ogeum (President of the Seongnam Saemaeul Women’s Association) has practiced sharing activities for vulnerable groups for over 40 years, while Yong Injung (Head of the Seongnam Volunteer Disaster Prevention Corps) contributed to citizen safety through patrols in high-risk areas, safety culture street campaigns, and event order maintenance volunteer work.
In the filial piety and good deeds category, Yoon Youngsook (General Affairs Director of Jeongja Senior College) has continuously promoted senior college activities and meal service volunteering. Jung Giyeop (CEO of Jina Transportation) supported Anna’s House, a shelter for the homeless, as well as North Korean defectors and at-risk youth, contributing to the stable lives of vulnerable groups.
In the environment category, Wang Dongyoung (Director of the Seongnam Council of the Environmental Culture Citizens’ Solidarity) promoted environmental clean-up along the Tancheon Stream and citizen movements to reduce fine dust. Lee Taeho (Administrative Director of Environment 365 Central Association) led environmental preservation volunteer activities in Namhansanseong, encouraging citizens to participate in environmental protection.
In the health promotion category, Kim Kyungtae (President of the Seongnam Medical Association) contributed to the development of local healthcare, including organizing the Seongnam Citizens’ Health Expo. Jung Hoyoung (President of the Seongnam Dental Association) actively participated in the dental home doctor project for elementary students, raising awareness of oral health.
In the human rights promotion category, Lim Insik (Chair of the Teacher Rights Protection Committee at the Seongnam Office of Education) worked to protect the human rights of youth and teachers from school violence. Jung Jinae (CEO of Ddabap) contributed to improving the cultural life and living environment of the homeless.
In the safety category, Um Suhyun (President of the Gyeonggi Province Women’s Volunteer Fire Brigade Association) worked for citizen safety through fire prevention campaigns and safety education.
In the outstanding youth category, Lee Seohyun (Chair of the Seohyun Youth Center Youth Operating Committee) promoted meetings between youth and youth organization facility leaders, offering suggestions. Jung Eunhye (Youth Operating Committee member at Eunhaeng Youth Center) contributed to fostering a positive youth culture by monitoring facilities to create youth-friendly open platforms.
The exemplary citizens selected this year will be awarded by the Mayor of Seongnam at the 52nd Seongnam Citizens’ Day ceremony, which will be held at the Seongnam Arts Center Opera House on the 30th.
