"Arrest of 80-Year-Old Man for Stabbing Son of Former Live-In Partner Over Disrespect"
An 80-year-old man was arrested by police after attempting to murder the son of his former live-in partner during a dispute.
The Jinju Police Station in South Gyeongsang Province announced on September 23 that they had apprehended and are currently investigating Mr. A, a man in his 80s, on charges of attempted murder.
According to the police, at around 6:35 p.m. the previous day, Mr. A went to the residence of Mr. B, a man in his 50s, located in Sangdae-dong, Jinju. He is accused of stabbing Mr. B once with a weapon he had prepared in advance.
It was revealed that Mr. A committed the crime after getting into an argument with Mr. B, the son of his former live-in partner. Mr. A stated that Mr. B had habitually disrespected him and had also done so during a phone call on the day of the incident, which prompted him to confront Mr. B and ultimately commit the act.
He was apprehended at the scene by responding police officers.
Mr. B, who was stabbed in the chest, was transported to a nearby hospital and underwent surgery, but reportedly has not regained consciousness.
