Korea Student Aid Foundation to Award Scholarships of 5 Million Won Annually to 1,000 Master’s Students... "Doctoral Scholarships to Be Introduced Next Year"
The Korea Student Aid Foundation (Chairman Bae Byungil) and the Ministry of Science and ICT (Minister Bae Kyunghoon) announced on September 23 that they will launch the 2025 Science and Engineering Master’s Excellence Scholarship Program for the first time this year to foster outstanding talent in the fields of science and engineering.
The Science and Engineering Master’s Excellence Scholarship Program aims to attract top early-career talent in science and engineering and to lay the foundation for a nation strong in science and technology. The program will provide scholarships of 2.5 million won per semester to 1,000 master’s students, totaling 5 billion won in support.
Eligibility is limited to full-time master’s students majoring in natural sciences or engineering who are either newly admitted or currently enrolled in the second semester of 2025 and who meet certain academic requirements.
Selection will be carried out by having participating universities in the scholarship program recommend candidates who meet their own internal criteria to the Korea Student Aid Foundation.
Those recommended by their universities will undergo a final eligibility review by the foundation before being selected as scholarship recipients. The Korea Student Aid Foundation will first survey domestic graduate schools regarding their participation in the program and, based on the results, allocate the number of candidates each university can recommend.
