Metropolitan Area Accounts for 54% of Applications, Highest Among Those in Their 30s
Up to 100,000 Won Refunded Monthly for Increased Spending Compared to Last Year
The Ministry of SMEs and Startups announced on September 22 that the cumulative number of applicants for the Win-Win Payback program reached approximately 6.43 million during the first week of applications (September 15-21).
The Win-Win Payback program offers a refund in the form of digital Onnuri gift certificates to citizens aged 19 and older. If their monthly card spending from September through November exceeds the average monthly spending from last year, they receive 20% of the increased amount as a refund, up to a maximum of 100,000 won per month.
By region, 54% of applicants (3.47 million people) were from the Seoul metropolitan area (Seoul, Gyeonggi, and Incheon). By age group, those in their 30s accounted for 26.4%, those in their 40s for 25.6%, and those in their 50s for 18.9%, in that order.
The Win-Win Consumption Lottery, which is automatically entered in connection with the Win-Win Payback program, had 4.56 million applicants as of September 19. Of these, 4.4 million people received at least one lottery ticket, with an average of nine tickets per person. The Win-Win Consumption Lottery provides one ticket for every 50,000 won in cumulative card spending from August 1 to October 12.
The digital Onnuri gift certificate app, “Digital Onnuri,” ranked first in downloads on the App Store and Google Play as of the morning of September 19. During the Win-Win Payback application period, the number of Digital Onnuri app subscribers increased by 5.53 million.
