Minister Shin Kyubaek Promotes K-Defense Exports in Meeting with Saudi National Guard Minister
Minister of National Defense Shin Kyubaek met with the Minister of the National Guard of Saudi Arabia to promote "K-Defense" exports.
The Ministry of National Defense announced on September 22 that Minister Shin held talks with Abdulaziz bin Bandar, Minister of the National Guard of Saudi Arabia, in Riyadh on the 21st (local time), to discuss ways to enhance defense and defense industry cooperation between the two countries. The Saudi National Guard is a government organization separate from the Ministry of Defense, responsible for the royal family, the protection of Islamic holy sites, and the security of oil fields.
During the meeting, Minister Shin stated, "I am honored to visit Saudi Arabia as my first destination in the Middle East since taking office. The two countries are future-oriented strategic partners, and I highly appreciate that cooperation in the defense and defense industry sectors continues to grow, with Korea serving as a key partner in Saudi Vision 2030." Minister Abdulaziz bin Bandar welcomed Minister Shin's visit and expressed hope that the meeting would further advance bilateral relations.
At the meeting, Minister Shin proposed expanding mutual trust and cooperation through personnel exchanges and military education between the Ministry of National Defense of the Republic of Korea and the Saudi National Guard. Minister Abdulaziz bin Bandar agreed to actively cooperate on these initiatives.

Minister Shin also highlighted the excellence of K-Defense and expressed the Ministry of National Defense's commitment to cooperation, proposing to actively expand mutually beneficial defense industry collaboration between the two countries. The two ministers agreed to meet again in the near future to review ongoing personnel exchanges and military education, as well as defense and defense industry cooperation projects, and to maintain close communication on key security issues.
