A specialized medical team consisting of ophthalmologists will directly conduct a variety of detailed examinations, including vision tests, intraocular pressure tests, slit-lamp microscopy, and disease consultations.
In particular, based on the results of the examination, reading glasses and eye drops will be provided free of charge if necessary. For those requiring ophthalmic surgery, such as for cataracts, retinal diseases, or glaucoma, information on surgical cost support from the Korea Foundation for the Prevention of Blindness will also be provided. Surgical cost support is available for economically vulnerable groups, including recipients of basic living security, low-income households, and single-parent families, offering them practical treatment opportunities.
Residents wishing to participate can bring their ID and fill out an application on-site on September 22. Examinations will be available for up to 100 people on a first-come, first-served basis.
Cho Insook, head of the Health Promotion Division, stated, "Early detection and treatment are crucial for eye diseases that commonly occur in old age," adding, "We hope this examination will help local residents prevent eye diseases and maintain a healthy lifestyle."
