Sejong City and Daejeon Metropolitan City jointly held the "2nd Sejong-Daejeon Joint Emergency Medical Workshop" on September 19, where they discussed current issues and future directions for emergency medical services in the Chungcheong region.

This workshop, hosted by Sejong City and Daejeon City and organized by the Sejong-Daejeon Emergency Medical Support Center, was held at BMK Wedding Hall in Daejeon. Following the inaugural event in Sejong City last year, this year’s workshop took place in Daejeon.

More than 150 participants, including representatives and officials from over 40 emergency medical-related organizations, attended the workshop. The program included awards for outstanding contributors to emergency medical services, presentations on key issues and current status of emergency medicine, and discussions on ways to strengthen the emergency medical network in the Chungcheong region.

At the event, the city emphasized the urgent need for inter-regional cooperation due to the overall shortage of medical personnel at the field level, and called for collaborative efforts in critical patient transfers and appropriate patient allocation across the Chungcheong region.

Lee Youngok, Director of the Department of Health and Welfare, stated, "Close cooperation between regions is essential to secure the golden hour for emergency patients," and added, "I hope this will serve as an opportunity for Sejong and Daejeon to join forces even more firmly."
