Equipped with the "Crugen EV HP71"
Kumho Tire (CEO Jung Iltaek) will supply original equipment (OE) tires for Kia's first dedicated electrified PBV (Platform Beyond Vehicle), the "The Kia PV5" (hereafter, PV5).
According to Kumho Tire on September 18, the PV5 is Kia's first PBV model, based on the dedicated electrification platform e-GMPS. It enables stable long-distance driving with fast-charging capability and features a low-floor design and spacious cargo area to enhance utility.
In addition to the basic models such as passenger, cargo, WAV (Wheelchair Accessible Vehicle), and chassis cab, Kia plans to produce various derivative models through collaboration with business partners to meet the diverse needs of customers.
The Kumho Tire "Crugen EV HP71" (size: 215/65R 16) supplied for the PV5 is a product specialized for electric SUVs and pickup trucks, continuing the legacy of Kumho Tire's premium SUV tire "Crugen." It will be supplied for export vehicles in various regions including Korea and Europe.
The Crugen EV HP71 is an electric vehicle tire designed to improve fuel efficiency while also considering driving and wear performance, as well as ride comfort. It delivers the required low rolling resistance, high load support, low noise, and instant response to high output, all of which are essential for electric vehicles.
Kim Insu, Executive Vice President and Head of OE Sales at Kumho Tire, stated, "As the concept of automobiles evolves from simple transportation to an expandable domain designed and operated according to users' purposes and lifestyles, the PBV market is expanding."
He added, "We are very pleased to supply original equipment tires for the world's first multi-purpose vehicle, Kia's PV5. Kumho Tire will continue to fulfill its role as a smart mobility partner for the future through ongoing R&D investment."
