"Counterfeit Petroleum, No More" ... Jinhae District Conducts Joint Inspection of Gas Stations
Raising Safety Awareness at Business Sites Ahead of Chuseok
Jinhae District in Changwon Special City, South Gyeongsang Province, conducted a joint inspection of gas stations in cooperation with the Busan-Ulsan-Gyeongnam Regional Headquarters of the Korea Petroleum Management Institute from September 16 to 17, 2025. The purpose was to enhance safety awareness at gas station businesses during the Chuseok holiday period and to ensure that citizens can enjoy a comfortable and safe holiday.
This joint inspection focused on 11 gas stations operating within Jinhae District, with particular attention to the following: whether counterfeit petroleum products were being handled, sampling to determine compliance with petroleum product quality standards, and the appropriateness of petroleum price display boards.
The Korea Petroleum Management Institute will conduct quality tests on the samples collected during the inspection. If any illegal activities such as the sale of counterfeit petroleum are discovered, strong administrative measures such as suspension of business operations and reporting to judicial authorities will be taken.
In addition, if vehicle owners suspect that the amount of fuel dispensed is less than what was paid for, they can secure evidence such as purchase receipts and report the incident by calling the Korea Petroleum Management Institute Oil Call Center or through the institute's website.
