Joint Seminar by the Korea Legislation Research Institute and the Korean Association for Information Law
Kim & Chang will co-host a seminar titled "Analysis and Evaluation of Subordinate Legislation under the Basic Act on Artificial Intelligence" with the Korea Legislation Research Institute and the Korean Association for Information Law on September 25 at the Crescendo Building in Jongno-gu.
The Basic Act on Artificial Intelligence, which passed the National Assembly plenary session on December 26 last year, is the world's second comprehensive law for the promotion and regulation of artificial intelligence, following the European Union. The subordinate legislation of the Basic Act on Artificial Intelligence details various compliance requirements, including risk management, user protection, and deepfakes.

This will be followed by presentations from Kim & Chang attorneys Ma Kyungtae and Kim Yujin, on "Analysis and Evaluation of Subordinate Legislation on High-Impact AI under the Basic Act on Artificial Intelligence" and "Analysis and Evaluation of Subordinate Legislation on Transparency Obligations, Investigations, and Sanctions under the Basic Act on Artificial Intelligence," respectively.
After the presentations, a comprehensive panel discussion will be held, moderated by Professor Lee Sungyeop (President of the Korean Association for Information Law), with participation from experts in academia, government, industry, and the legal sector. The panel will include: Kye In-guk, Professor at Korea University Graduate School of Public Administration; Kim Kyungman, Director-General for AI Policy at the Ministry of Science and ICT; Ra Giwon, Ph.D., Korea Legislation Research Institute; Park Sunmin, Country Manager of Google Korea; Park Soyoung, Investigator at the National Assembly Research Service; Son Jiyoon, Executive Director at Naver; Lee Seungmin, Professor at Sungkyunkwan University Law School; and Lee Jeongcheol, Foreign Attorney at Kim & Chang.
