Cheongyang County Achieves Early Fundraising Goals for Hometown Love Project Four Years in a Row, Emerges as National Model Local Government
Resident-Tailored Initiatives, Including Flood Recovery and Meal Support for Seniors, Gain Nationwide Support
Cheongyang County in South Chungcheong Province has emerged as a national model local government by achieving its fundraising targets early for the Hometown Love Designated Donation Project for four consecutive years.
This success is attributed to donor empathy, which was garnered through resident-tailored initiatives ranging from flood damage recovery to meal support for seniors.
After suffering significant damage from record-breaking heavy rains in July and being designated a special disaster area in August, the county urgently launched the "Flood Damage Designated Donation Project" to help residents quickly return to normal life.
Within just over a month of launching the fundraising campaign, the county raised 15.37 million won, surpassing its 15 million won target, and successfully concluded the campaign, providing practical recovery support and comfort to affected residents.
Subsequently, the third project, "A Meal Together for Local Seniors," was also completed 46 days ahead of the original schedule.
From April 1, the fundraising campaign collected a total of 205 donations amounting to 52.11 million won in 166 days. Large contributions from the honorary county governor and honorary town and township heads further helped spread the culture of giving in the region.
Despite concerns over the dispersal of donations nationwide this year due to a series of disasters such as wildfires and heavy rainfall, the county achieved results by focusing on on-site promotion and conveying the sincerity of its initiatives, successfully resonating with donors.
With this, the county has set a record by achieving its fundraising goals early for four consecutive years in the Hometown Love Designated Donation Project, earning recognition as a model local government that transparently utilizes raised funds to address local issues.
