National Police Agency Conducts Terror Incident Countermeasures Headquarters Drill Ahead of APEC
Assuming a Complex Terrorist Attack,
Reviewing Response Measures
The National Police Agency announced on September 18 that it will conduct the "2nd Domestic General Terror Incident Countermeasures Headquarters Drill."
This drill will simulate a complex terrorist attack at the conference venue on Yeongjongdo, Incheon, where the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Ministerial Meeting is being held.
The training scenario assumes a complex terrorist attack in which a drone bomb attack is attempted on vehicles carrying foreign dignitaries arriving at the APEC venue, followed by a chemical attack targeting crowds evacuating the area.
On site, 200 personnel from 10 organizations will participate, including the Incheon Metropolitan Police Agency, Yeongjong Fire Station, 119 Special Response Unit, Siheung Chemical Disaster Joint Prevention Center, and the Army Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear Battalion, with the Incheon Metropolitan Police Agency chief serving as the on-site command post leader.
At the National Police Agency, the acting Commissioner General will preside over a Terror Incident Countermeasures Headquarters meeting to review the on-site response of related agencies and discuss follow-up measures.
