Held in Ulsan, the Industrial City
Are you familiar with Pureun Seed?
The Ulsan Nambu and Ulsan Jungbu branches of the Korea Workers’ Compensation & Welfare Service (President Park Jonggil) held a briefing session on September 17, 2025, at the main auditorium of the Ulsan Museum to introduce "Pureun Seed," a retirement pension fund system for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).
This session was organized to introduce the Pureun Seed system and various benefits, including government subsidies, to SME owners, HR and labor managers, and employee representatives in the Ulsan area. It also aimed to assist those interested in signing up on the spot.
The briefing covered topics such as the necessity of retirement pension systems and an introduction to Pureun Seed, guidance on the enrollment process, subscriber benefits including government subsidies, and case studies of companies in Ulsan that have joined Pureun Seed. In addition, on-site Q&A sessions and one-on-one consultation booths were provided to help attendees better understand the system.
Pureun Seed is the nation’s first fund-type retirement pension system. Within just three years of its launch, it has reached 30,000 participating workplaces, 137,000 enrolled workers, and accumulated assets of 1.2 trillion won. Through the stable management by dedicated asset management institutions Mirae Asset Securities and Samsung Asset Management, it has achieved a cumulative return of 21.43% as of September 1, 2025, supporting the stable retirement of SME workers.
Various benefits are offered to employers and employees who join Pureun Seed. For employees with a monthly salary of less than 2.73 million won, both the employer and the employee receive a financial subsidy equivalent to 10% of their contributions. Additionally, newly enrolled workplaces this year are exempt from management fees for three years, providing substantial support for businesses facing financial challenges.
An official from the Korea Workers’ Compensation & Welfare Service emphasized, "Pureun Seed is a core system for ensuring retirement income security for SME workers," and added, "We will continue to expand on-site promotional activities and consultations so that small businesses can easily introduce retirement pensions."
