According to Sejong City on September 17, the foreign press corps, invited through the 2025 Korea-US Media Exchange Program organized by the Korea Press Foundation (Chairman Kim Hyojae), visited the city on September 16.
The Korea-US Media Exchange Program was designed to promote mutual understanding between Korea and the United States and to encourage coverage of current issues in both countries. Six journalists participated, including White House correspondents and reporters covering the US presidential election. On this day, Mayor Choi and the foreign press corps held an in-depth discussion in the Sejong Office at City Hall, covering topics such as the significance of Sejong as an administrative capital and national balanced development model, as well as the internationalization strategy of Sejong as a city of Hangul culture.
Mayor Choi stated, "In our country, 51% of the population and 98% of major corporations are concentrated in the mega-city of Seoul. For Sejong to be fully established as the administrative capital, not only must the National Assembly and the Presidential Office be relocated, but also good companies, talented individuals, and quality schools must move here together." He emphasized that the most essential aspect of the Korean Wave, including the global popularity of K-Pop Demon Hunters, is Hangul itself, and highlighted Sejong's role as the central hub for the flourishing of Hangul culture.
