Seoul Museum of Art Offers "Modeun Gabang" Sensory Kits for Visitor Comfort... Includes Noise-Cancelling Headsets
Sensory-Based Visitor Kits Introduced
Including Sensory Guides and Noise-Cancelling Headsets
The Seoul Museum of Art announced on September 17 that it will introduce “Modeun Gabang,” the first permanent sensory-based visitor kit rental service at a museum or art museum in Korea. The museum also officially opened “SeMA L,” a dedicated educational space aimed at expanding paradigms.
“Modeun Gabang” is the first case in Korea where a sensory aid kit, known internationally as a “Sensory Bag,” has been introduced as a permanent rental service at a museum or art museum. The kit includes sensory guides for psychological stability, an easy-to-read museum guide, noise-cancelling headsets, a fidget keyring that serves as both a tactile tool and an assistance marker, and communication cards, all designed for visitors with developmental disabilities, sensory processing disorders, visual impairments, or dyslexia.
A total of 40 participants, both with and without disabilities, collaborated on the project, with artist Missionit (Kim Byungsoo) responsible for its design and production. A video documenting the workshop process will be screened at SeMA L.
Modeun Gabang can be freely rented and returned at dedicated stands located in the lobby of the Seosomun Main Building and at SeMA L, with no separate application process required for use.
SeMA L, located on the third floor of the Seosomun Main Building of the Seoul Museum of Art, is a space dedicated to education and will host a variety of research, education, and participation programs.

Choi Eunju, Director of the Seoul Museum of Art, stated, “SeMA L and Modeun Gabang are initiatives to expand the museum’s long-standing commitment to accessibility into institutional practice. By being the first in Korea to offer permanent sensory-based visitor kits, we aim to create a learning space where everyone can experience art together with citizens, and we plan to continuously expand our research and efforts regarding inclusive access and diversity.”
