"Report of Woman Trying to Take Female Students" Turns Out to Be 'Street Casting'
A report was filed alleging that someone was luring middle school students in Songdo, Incheon, but an investigation revealed it was a street casting activity by an entertainment agency.
The Incheon Yeonsu Police Station announced on the 17th that at around 3:40 p.m. on the 15th, a report was received via the 112 emergency hotline stating, "A woman is trying to take female students away" in front of a middle school in Songdo-dong, Yeonsu-gu.
The person who reported the incident said, "A woman was tapping female students and seemed to be taking them away to ask questions." Police immediately checked the scene and tracked CCTV footage and vehicle license plates.
The investigation identified the subject of the report as a woman in her 30s, referred to as Ms. A, who was an employee of an entertainment agency. It was determined that Ms. A got out of a vehicle driven by the company’s CEO, showed her employee ID to two middle school students, and obtained their parents’ contact information.
Ms. A, who appeared at the police station, stated, "I wanted to recruit the students as models and obtained their parents’ contact information to ask for their consent."
A police official said, "The CEO of the entertainment agency also visited the police station in person and confirmed that Ms. A is indeed an employee. Since there was no connection to any crime, the case has been closed."
