Dongducheon City to Hold 'Citizen Harmony Festival' on the 20th
Dongducheon City in Gyeonggi Province will hold the '2025 Citizen Harmony Festival' in grand fashion at the Dongducheon Sports Complex on September 20. The event is hosted by Dongducheon City and jointly organized by Dongducheon City and the Dongducheon City Sports Council.
This large-scale community sports festival will bring together residents from all eight districts, including Saengyeon 1-dong, Saengyeon 2-dong, Jungang-dong, Bosan-dong, Bulhyeon-dong, Songnae-dong, Sangpae-dong, and Soyo-dong. It is expected to serve as a venue for unity and communication, transcending generations and social classes, and bringing citizens together as one.
The festival, formerly known as the 'Citizen Harmony One-Heart Sports Competition,' was renamed to the 'Citizen Harmony Festival' after Mayor Park Hyungdeok took office in 2022, reflecting the event's sports-oriented character. While it was originally held every two years, the strong response and enthusiastic participation from citizens led to it becoming an annual event. It has now established itself as a meaningful occasion to strengthen community spirit and promote regional unity.
The program will proceed in the following order: the entrance of district teams, pre-event performances, opening ceremony, competitions, and closing ceremony. The sporting events include activities such as hoop rolling, basket ball toss, tuho (arrow throwing), shoe archery, balloon tower stacking, gym ball relay, and a 400-meter relay. These participatory programs are designed for people of all ages to enjoy together.
Mayor Park Hyungdeok stated, "This festival is not simply a sports event, but a celebration where neighbors connect and every citizen becomes the main character. I hope that many citizens will join, making it a joyful and moving occasion for unity."

Dongducheon City announced plans to use this event as an opportunity to realize a 'citizen-led festival' where citizens take the initiative to participate and enjoy, and called for the active interest and participation of all residents.
