This award recognizes Pohang City's accomplishments in areas such as operating youth participation organizations, implementing support programs, and hosting youth events.
In 2023, the city established a dedicated youth department called the Job and Youth Division, enhancing the integration and professionalism of its policies. Through this, Pohang City has actively promoted support programs throughout the entire cycle, including the advancement of youth policies, support for independence, and the revitalization of exchanges.
Notably, initiatives such as the Youth Policy School, Pohang Youth Center, Youth Startup Platform, and Job Empathy Pay support program have produced tangible results and received positive responses from young people. The “Pleple Market,” which involves young entrepreneurs, has also become established in the region, creating a structure in which youth opinions are reflected in policy.
Mayor Lee Kangdeok emphasized, “This award is not just an achievement of the administration, but a result accomplished together by young people and citizens,” adding, “We will continue to actively support efforts to strengthen the foundation so that young people can dream and take on challenges in Pohang.”
