View original imageChuncheon City (Mayor Yuk Donghan) recently carried out a mid-term evaluation and consulting for 25 lifelong learning institutions for people with disabilities, including the Chuncheon Branch of the Gangwon Province Association of Wonderful Women Opening Tomorrow, and successfully completed the process. The city has been implementing the project since being selected in April for the Ministry of Education’s National Institute of Special Education’s new public offering, “Operation of Lifelong Learning Cities for People with Disabilities (Specialized Support).”
The results of this evaluation showed that the participation rate and satisfaction level of individuals with disabilities were generally high, and the educational environment was also rated as excellent.
In particular, in the “Dreaming Florist Training” program by the Chuncheon City Association of the Physically Disabled, a participant won an award in the floral arrangement category at the Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province Skills Competition for People with Disabilities. This demonstrates that the education is leading to expanded social participation and enhanced technical skills for people with disabilities. Hanarin Daycare Center is also boosting the sense of achievement among people with disabilities and continuing its contributions to the local community through various activities, such as the “Hanadang Bakery” bread-sharing volunteer program and participation in the 5th Chuncheon City Lifelong Learning Festival to be held next month.
Based on this high level of satisfaction, the city believes that practical lifelong learning opportunities, along with institutional and financial support, are needed to go beyond simple education and further promote the participation of people with disabilities in the local community.
Currently, a total of 40 programs are being carried out, including those directly operated by the Chuncheon City Lifelong Learning Center, and as of last month, 11 projects have been successfully completed. The remaining projects will continue to be monitored through November, with efforts focused on providing even better lifelong education programs.
