Earlier, in early August, Maggie Cheung created an account on Xiaohongshu, a Chinese social networking service (SNS), and began communicating with her fans. Now 60 years old and approaching the end of middle age, Maggie Cheung explained that she started using Xiaohongshu because she wanted to connect with fans of various age groups. Within just four hours of opening her Xiaohongshu account, she gained about 180,000 followers. The number of followers continued to grow, surpassing 700,000 in just one day. Fans were overjoyed to hear that Maggie Cheung had started communicating again after 20 years.

Since launching her SNS account, Maggie Cheung has been sharing everyday photos and videos with her fans. The photos she posts show her taking walks with a bare face and simple attire, driving a pickup truck to transport organic vegetables, and riding her bicycle around the village. Instead of luxury handbags, she carries a bamboo basket and visits traditional markets.

The last film Maggie Cheung appeared in was "Clean," which was released in 2004. The film was directed by her ex-husband, Olivier Assayas. Maggie Cheung married French director Olivier Assayas but divorced him in 2001. After winning the Best Actress Award at the 57th Cannes Film Festival for "Clean," she took to the stage and thanked Olivier. Since hinting at her retirement from acting in 2012, she has not made any official public appearances or revealed details about her private life for over a decade. As a result, there are still calls both inside and outside the entertainment industry for her return to the film world.
