Lee Seokyeon: "Lee Jaemyung Must Step Down from the Horse and Become President for All"
Inaugural Address by National Unity Committee Chairman Lee Seokyeon
Quoting a Passage from Sima Qian's "Records of the Grand Historian"
Lee Seokyeon, Chairman of the National Unity Committee, stated to President Lee Jaemyung, "Now is the time to step down from the horse and become the president for all, embracing the entire nation and moving forward together."
On September 15, during his inaugural address at the Government Complex Seoul, Chairman Lee quoted a passage from Sima Qian's "Records of the Grand Historian": "One may win the world on horseback, but one cannot govern it from horseback," and delivered this message.
He emphasized, "This is the essence of integrative leadership," adding, "Although you came to power with the logic of the Democratic Party, you cannot govern the nation solely based on that logic."
Chairman Lee further stated, "National unity is the foremost principle and governing philosophy of the Lee Jaemyung administration," and warned, "If we fail to resolve conflict and division, the path to a truly happy Korea for all citizens will remain distant."
He also clarified, "National unity does not mean binding each individual's thoughts and actions into a single framework and moving forward together," stressing, "Even citizens who think differently from the current government or did not support the president must be included, and we must seek ways to move forward together by complementing one another."
